I’ve lived with T-Mobile Home Internet for two years. The 5G broadband service is superior to DSL but has some quirks.
I can't really explain why, but I find the recent AI developments, articles and news stories totally boring and lame. I can understand why people get excited with generative AI that can transform a text into an image etc, but otherwise the benefits of so called AI are completely lost on me, and all those AI articles on HN are just noise to me.I don't need you to convince me I'm wrong. I just want to know if there are other people here that feel the same way. Thank you for commenti
I used to write my CV in LaTeX but I recently had the idea of just doing in Figma since it's so much more flexible. And it exports to PDF, obviously.
I wanted to create a bunch of free templates for people to use.
But I've seen some comments on here that suggest this will produce an unparse-able PDF that will fail many automatic job portals. Is that true?
I'm a software engineer and have embraced using AI to make me more productive. Seeing the fast pace of innovation and improvements of agents and tools leaves me wondering what I should shift my focus to.
Beyond the obvious answer of "learn how to use AI," I'm curious how other people would answer this question.
My own answer: Use AI tools to make the transition from employed software engineer to being able to produce value while transitioning to becoming self-employed.
I run a small SaaS in the Netherlands which operates mainly by accepting stripe payments.Up until now, I used to do bookkeeping/accounting using plain text accounting (I have 10+ years of discipline doing my personal finances, so it felt natural to do business finances as well), but it starts to become a bit of a hassle, so I'm looking for more streamlined options.Accountants are too expensive, and I don't, yet, generate enough money to justify them. Moreover, they tend to charge
Hey HN,I'm excited to share de'Folio, a privacy-first investment analysis portfolio manager I built. de'Folio is entirely client-side, ensuring your data stays on your device – no signups, servers, emails, clouds, or AI training involved. The idea started simple, I wanted a better CSV data viewer that wouldn’t compromise my privacy. What I ended up creating is a tool worth sharing. It's designed for those who value their privacy and want control over their investment data, spe
Are there any datasets, with any labels or no labels, for people using their desktop computers to do mundane tasks like open applications, browse the web, interact with spreadsheets, etc?I was thinking this type of desktop "screen record" data could be useful for training AI Agents in the future. It seems the hardest part of getting AI to "just do work" on my laptop is being able to navigate different applications, copy and paste stuff, trouble shoot weird one-off interactions
The Bureau of Hospitality & Food Service is kindly requesting all Hacker News users to take the Table Setting Efficiency Test (T.S.E.T.) to ensure consideration in the Post-AI Resource Restructuring Program.
I'm a software engineer working in a big corporation that's an absolute mess. When I first joined my team, I had an optimistic "I can change things for the better" mindset, having successfully done it before. However, the situation here has been challenging. What we work on is riddled with functional and technical debt, while also lacking documentation.Despite this, I was able to overhaul the documentation, finish tasks earlier than their deadlines, help teammates who were st
